Teniola Apata, well known as Teni has revealed what Wizkid did to her the very first time they met.
The Nigerian singer, songwriter and entertainer recounted that when she and Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, Wizzy or Starboy met for the first time at the Headies, the Afrobeat legend stood up and said ‘hello.’
The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria (Wikipedia).
The former Atlanta-based singer who relocated to her native land, Nigeria to launch her music career made this known while revealing her relationship with Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido- three of the biggest artistes in the mainstream music industry.
“I remember Wiz saw me at the headies and Wiz literally stood up and said hello. They always show love, Burna ….. Anywhere Burna sees me, he always shows love. But David is special because I have known Davido since Atlanta ooo”.
“I remember when I met him in his studio session and he said to me in his exact words ‘Go back to Nigeria and you are going to be a huge star‘ So he motivated me with those words and it was just right for me to do something with them for my first album.
He was already huge at the time oo, so imagine Davido meeting me in a studio and telling me to do my thing that I can actually be a huge star”.
