There’s Nothing Unique About The Current Crop of Ghanaian Musicians – Kweisey Pee

Famous Ghanaian highlife singer, Kweisey Pee, born Kwasi Poku Addae has opined that the current generation of Ghanaian musicians are all the same with nothing unique to make them stand out.

According to the singer, all the contemporary musicians we have in the country are constantly copying each other and as such, there is nothing unique about them.

He added that all the musicians are releasing songs that are similar to what they have released previously which marvels him because he can’t phantom what the ultimate goal is.

“Most of the artists here in Ghana when you listen to them you will hear the same thing every single day. So you don’t actually understand what they want to do. If Kofi’s sound is like Kojo’s sound and Kojo’s sound like Kofi’s sound, then it’s like we are going round the same circle,” the singer revealed in a recent interview on GTV.

He also explained that Ghanaians have neglected highlife which originated in Ghana and has now become a cash cow for Nigerian artists; something Amakye Dede recently expressed.

“Highlife belongs to Ghanaians but our brothers from the other side have taken it and twisted it in another way and then call it Afro Beat and now we are chasing them to copy from them,” he added.
