A former Minister of External Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi has called on Nigerians to reason carefully and cast their votes during the general elections with a clear conscience for the good of the country.
The university professor made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sidelines of the Luncheon and Merit Awards ceremony to mark Igbobi College’s 91st Anniversary at the school in Lagos on Sunday.
He urged Nigerian citizens at large and voters, in particular, to conduct themselves in that way because future generations deserve a country that rewards merit and hard work.
Prof. Akinyemi said it is imperative that round pegs are put in round poles so that the resulting impact will not be only felt locally but will ensure the country takes its rightful place among the committee of nations.
He explained that the world is going through a transition from the old order to the new and that Nigeria needs to sit at the table of decisions in the world.
Prof. Akinyemi insists that Nigeria’s seat at the world table should not be vacant.
