Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta has said that Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey will get an MRI to evaluate the extent of the injury he sustained in the match against Manchester City.
Thomas Partey was forced off after he sustained an injury in the FA cup match at the Etihad Stadium and was replaced at halftime by Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 in a hard-fought fourth-round FA Cup match with a Nathan Ake lone goal.
The midfielder has been pivotal to his team which is currently on top of the English Premier League with a five-point advantage. Since moving to the Premier League, Partey has had a torrid bout with injuries.
Partey’s injury is likely to adversely affect Arsenal’s title challenge. In light of this, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour had advised against Partey playing in the match against Manchester City.
Arteta revealed that the player has had some discomfort and it was getting worse so he could not continue the match. He said that there will be an MRI scan done to ascertain the extent of the discomfort.
