The University of Texas Longhorns athletics program announced on Monday that, its legend and former WNBA star, Tiffany Jackson has died.
Jackso was 37 years old at the time of her death and is said according to the statement released by the University to have died from breast cancer.
Jackson was a star athlete in high school and college.
At the high school level, she won the state championship in 2003 with Duncansville High School and was adjudged Texas’ Gatorade Player of the Year.
After her college career, she was named the consensus No. 2 national prospect.
Jackson was selected 5th overall in the first round of the WNBA Draft 2007 by the New York Liberty. She also played for the Tulsa Shock and Los Angeles Sparks.
Upon retiring from playing basketball she was appointed assistant coach in college basketball for the Texas Longhorns women’s team.
Jackson died on 3 October 2022.
