Toby Keith Covel is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer who was born on July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma, United States.

Keith is professionally known by his given names. He released his first four studio albums in 1993’s Toby Keith, 1994’s Boomtown, and 1996’s Blue Moon, as well as 1997’s Dream Walkin’, plus a Greatest Hits package for various divisions at Mercury Records. Keith left Mercury in 1998.

All of these albums earned Gold or higher certification, and produced many Top Ten singles, including “Should’ve Been a Cowboy”, his debut. It topped the country charts, and was the most-played song in the 1990s.

Broadcast Music Incorporated reports that the song has been played three million times since its release.

Keith has released 19 studio albums and 2 Christmas albums. He also has 5 compilation albums. This totals worldwide sales of over 40 million albums.

Toby has two siblings; Tracy Covel is his brother and Tonni Covel is his sister. They were born to Carolyn Joan (mother) and Hubert Keith Covel (father).

The family lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas, for a few years when Keith was in grade school, but moved to Moore, Oklahoma (a suburb of Oklahoma City), when he was still young.
