Tomás Juan Boy Espinoza was a Mexican football player and manager who played as an attacking midfielder.

An outstanding creative player who has exceptional technical ability as well as a keen eye, Boy can be compared to one of the greatest Mexican midfielders of all time.

He was a player for the Mexican professional football League, which is now Liga MX, between 1975 until 1988. He is probably the top Mexican attacking midfielder from the mid-seventies to late 70s. He spent most of his entire football playing career
with Tigres UANL, appearing in 413 games and scoring 104 goals throughout all competition.

Boy was given his Mexican Balon de Oro for the top attacking midfielder during in the 1978-79 seasons. He was a member of his Mexico national team from 1979 and 1987. He was appointed captain in the 1986 World Cup and surprisingly being not included in the 1978 World Cup.

The 1986 team is the only one to make it to the quarterfinals in a World Cup, and is considered to be one of the best Mexican national teams ever. Tomas Boy earned the nickname El Jefe (“The Boss” in Spanish) and on the 12th of November 2019 the player was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Pachuca.

Since his retirement, Tomas Boy has managed 10 different teams in Mexico, making it to the Final with Morelia in 2011. He also saved numerous teams from relegation.

He was born on June 28, 1951, in Mexico City, Mexico, and die on March 8, 2022, at age 70 in Acapulco.
