Dow reprised his role as Wally in a television movie and in The New Leave It to Beaver from 1983 to 1989.

With almost no acting experience, Dow’s career began when he went on a casting call and landed the role of Wally Cleaver in Leave It to Beaver.

For the show’s entire run, from 1957 to 1963, Dow played the older son of June (played by Barbara Billingsley) and Ward (played by Hugh Beaumont) Cleaver, and the older brother of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver (played by Jerry Mathers).

Dow’s most recent screen appearance was in the 2003 film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.

American actor Tony Dow was born to his parents Muriel Montrose and John Stevens.

Tony Dow’s mother Muriel Virginia Montrose was an actress who played “Wally” in the television series Leave It to Beaver (1957).

She was born on May 27, 1906, in Denver, Colorado, USA. Her family moved to California when she was a teenager.

Muriel was discovered by producer Mack Sennett at the age of seventeen and became one of his bathing beauties. She also worked as Clara Bow’s body double.

Muriel appeared in a handful of movies including Heart Trouble and The Jolly Jilter. She then started working as a stunt woman in Western films.

Muriel Montrose passed away on April 30, 2001, in Monterey, California, USA, at the age of 94.

Tony’s father John Dow was a designer and general contractor. He passed away in 1987.
