Tyrese Maxey is an American professional basketball player who is on the roster of the Philadelphia 76ers. He had previously represented the Kentucky Wildcats in collegiate basketball.
He played shooting guard for South Garland High School, where he contributed to the team’s historic 2018 berth in the Texas State High School Basketball Tournament. He later joined the Wildcats, where in his first game as a collegiate player, he established a school record by scoring 26 points.
Maxey decided to join the 2020 NBA draft after the COVID-19 epidemic cut short his freshman year at Kentucky. The 76ers picked him with their first-round choice, 21st overall, in the draft. Maxey’s debut season saw little playing time for him.
However, Ben Simmons’s unwillingness to participate in the following season meant that Maxey could play more minutes and contributes to the team’s run to the playoffs.
