Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has disclosed the reason for reverting to his favourite jersey number at Arsenal.
The 27-year-old switched from the number 18 short to number 5 as the Gunners announced their new squad numbers for the upcoming season.
According to Partey, the number 5 is his lucky number, and it was a no-brainer for him to make the switch.
“I like the No 5 because it’s one of the most important numbers in the team and it is also a lucky number for me,” he told Arsenal.com.
“It’s the number I’ve worn for the past few years, so for me it’s one of the best numbers.”

The 28-year-old wears the same number for the Black Stars.
He is expected to be a key figure for the Gunners in the new season as Mikel Arteta plans to challenge for top positions.
He follows in the footsteps of Ian Ure, Willie Young, Gus Caesar, Ian Sellley, Steve Bould, Martin Keown, Kolo Toure, and Thomas Vermaelen.
