Vin Scully Family: Wife, Children, Parents, Siblings

An American sportscaster Vincent Edward Scully has passed away.

Scully was best known for his 67 seasons calling games for Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers, beginning in 1950 and ending in 2016.

Scully’s run calling games constituted the longest tenure of any broadcaster with a single team in professional sports history.

He was second only to Tommy Lasorda (by two years) in terms of number of years associated with the Dodgers organization in any capacity.

In 2016, he retired at age 88, ending his record-breaking run as the team’s play-by-play announcer.

Scully in his final season behind the microphone announced most Dodgers home games (and selected road games) on SportsNet LA television and KLAC radio.

Scully passed away at his Los Angeles home on August 2, 2022, at the age of 94.

In 1972, Scully’s 35-year-old wife Joan Crawford he married in 1958, died of an accidental medical overdose; the couple had been married for 15 years.

Vin Scully got married to his second wife Sandra Hunt in 1973. The couple married for 48 years until Sandra’s death from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis on January 3, 2021.

Cat Scully and Michael A. Scully are the children of Vin Scully.

Michael A. Scully, died in a helicopter crash at the age of 33 while working for the ARCO Transportation Company.

He was inspecting oil pipelines for leaks near Fort Tejon, California in the immediate aftermath of the Northridge earthquake in January 1994.

Born on November 29, 1927, in The Bronx, New York, United States to his parents Vincent Aloysius Scully and Bridget Scully, Vin grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.

His father, Vincent Aloysius, was a silk salesman; his mother, Bridget, was a homemaker. He was of Irish descent.

His biological father died of pneumonia when Scully was 4, and his mother later married an English merchant sailor named Allan Reeve, whom Scully considered “my dad”.
