Decorated South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest has revealed that he won’t be able to attend AKA’s funeral which is scheduled to take place on February 18, 2023.
While South African industry players are preparing to show up and show their support for the family of the late musical genius, Cassper Nyovest revealed on Twitter that he will not be attending the event.
Taking to the bird app, Cassper Nyovest revealed that even though he shared a lot of memories with the late rapper, he wouldn’t be in South Africa at the time of the funeral.
“Unfortunately I’ll be out of the country for work but if I was around I would’ve went. I would’ve went to the funeral too. No matter how you look at it, me and Kiernan shared a lot of great moments together and he contributed to my industry so I have to pay my respects,” he tweeted.
AKA was shot in the head by a yet-to-be-identified assailant while exchanging pleasantries with his friends in front of a restaurant in Durban.
CCTV footage which has since gone viral saw the attacker walking up behind AKA and his companions and shooting him at close proximity in the head before running off through the heavy Durban traffic.
