We Were Shambolic Against Niger – Dr. Tony Aubynn
Dr. Tony Aubynn, who serves as the Management Committee chairman of the Black Galaxies has admitted that the team was shambolic against Niger on Saturday.
Ghana and Niger faced off on Saturday for a place in the semifinals of the 2022 CHAN tournament at the Miloud Hadfi Stadium in Oran.
The Black Galaxies suffered a 2-0 loss to Niger bringing to an end their hopes of winning the trophy for the first time in their history.
Dr. Aubynn is of the view that the failure of the team to annex the coveted trophy was not due to the poor quality in the Ghana Premier League as many have posited, because, according to him the league has unearthed some of the best players who have had foreign clubs express interest in them.
He said that it is from the same league that some are chastizing that players were drawn from to beat a powerhouse like Nigeria to qualify for the competition.
Dr. Aubynn noted that Niger had also beaten Cameroun earlier in the competition but though the team was simply shambolic on the day, it is not a horrible side.
The Black Galaxies will arrive in the country later today.
