Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars will do much better at the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Despite African champions Algeria thrashing the Black Stars 3-0 in a pre-AFCON friendly game in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday, January 5, Milovan believed his team will still put a better performance at the AFCON.
“At the AFCON, we will have the ability to play against some of the big teams like Morocco and Gabon. We have the opportunity to get to know the teams even better. But time is on our side for more matches, and we will do much better at the AFCON,” Rajevac said as quoted by CAFonline.com.
Ghana is hoping to win their 5th AFCON this time around, as it has been four decades since they won the tournament.
The last time Ghana won the AFCON was 1982 after beating the host nation, Libya, 7-6 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 on extra-time.
The 2021 African cup of nations will be held in Cameroon, as the host nation will be opening the game against Burkina Faso on January 9, 2022, at 4pm.
Ghana will play their first AFCON match against Morocco on Monday, January 10, at 4pm before playing Gabon and Comoros respectively in the group stage.
