Barty, who was born on April 24, 1996, in Ipswich, Queensland, has announced her retirement from a professional tennis at the age of 25. She made the announcement on March 23, 2022.
Ash Barty is the second Australian tennis player to be ranked No. 1 in the world in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association, after fellow Indigenous Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley, who is holding the ranking for 120 weeks overall.
Her performance was also among the top ten doubles player, who attained a career-high rank of No. 5 in the world.
Barty is three times Grand Slam singles champion, and reigning champion at Wimbledon and the Australian Open.
She’s also a Grand Slam doubles champion, winning in the year 2018 US Open with CoCo Vandeweghe. Barty was the winner of 15 singles titles as well as 12 doubles title during the WTA Tour.
Apart from tennis, Barty had also been a netball player when she was a kid, but she decided to concentrate on tennis due to the fact that she “thought [netball] was a girls’ game” and because her sisters were much better than her in this sport. She did not play cricket while growing up.
