World Cup Qualifier: South Africa Arrive In Accra For Ghana Clash

South Africa have landed in Accra today, November 12, to begin preparations for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ghana.

Bafana Bafana departed South Africa early on Friday, and arrived in the West African country in the late afternoon.

They defeated Zimbabwe by 1-0 on the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday night to increase their advantage at the top of the table.

South Africa are three points ahead of Ghana, however, qualification isn’t guaranteed with the group winner due to be determined on Sunday.

A draw or win in Ghana will guarantee the Bafana Bafana place in the third-round play-offs. However, a Ghana victory will bring South Africa and Black Stars both end on 13 points. After that the goal difference will be decided the outcome based on FIFA rules.

But, a victory for Ghana will suffice to allow Ghana’s Black Stars to overtake the Bafana Bafana on the list according to the overall goals that they scored.

Both teams would have the same goal differential (+4) in the event that Ghana beat South Africa by one goal, however, the Black Stars will have more goals achieved (7 against 6).

If Ghana were to be able to win by more than two goals, it would be over South Africa without ever getting their calculators.

Ghana against South Africa will kick off at 7 p.m. local time at Cape Coast Stadium.
