Nigeria were surprisingly defeated 1-0 by the Central African Republic in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Thursday night.
The Super Eagles were heavy favourites to take the three points home in this Group C encounter in Lagos however, the Central African Republic stunned them by scoring a stoppage-time goal.
The goal was scored by the substitute Karl Namnganda, who plays in the French fourth tier of Les Herbiers in the 91st minute.
The forward snatched up an unintentional ball that would have been a challenge for the Super Eagles defence had failed to intercept for a goal in the 91st minute of Lagos.
Nigeria are still top in the group C having scored six points after three games, however Central African Republic are now only two points behind Gernot Rohr’s team after scoring their first victory.
