Former Ghana international, Yaw Acheampong has called for support for the newly appointed Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton.
Chris Hughton was officially unveiled on Monday as the new manager of the Black Stars in Kumasi at the SG Mall.
He replaces former coach Otto Addo who is currently with German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund as a talent development coach. Hughton signed a 21-month contract which expires on 31 December 2024.
In light of the appointment of the former Newcastle United boss, many football experts and former Ghana internationals have called for the coach to be backed.
Yaw Acheampong told Happy FM that, what Chris Hughton needs right now is time and freedom to work, we know there would be lots of pressure on him to try and prove a point in his first two games.
He insists that all should support him and stay positive so he can bring back the glory days.
Ghana will play Angola in the Kumasi on 23 March before jetting off to Luanda for the return leg four days later.
The Black Stars are at joint top of Group E alongside Angola with both teams with four points apiece after two games.
