Yulia Navalnaya, originally Yulia Borisovna Abrosimova, was born on July 24, 1976, in Moscow, Soviet Union. She was born into the family of Boris Aleksandrovich Abrosimov (1952—1996), a scientist.

Her mother was employed by the Ministry of Light Industry. When Navalnaya was in fifth grade, her parents divorced, and her mother remarried, this time to an employee of the USSR State Planning Committee.
