Zachary Harris Johnson was born on 24 February 1976 in Iowa City, Iowa. He is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.
Johnson played sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and soccer as a youth but settled on golf at age 10 and went to Elmcrest Country Club to develop his skills.
He attended Regis High School where he played on the school’s golf team leading them to the Iowa 3A state championship in 1992 as number-two.
He went on to Drake University in Des Moines where again as number-two he led his team to three NCAA regional meets and two Missouri Valley championships.
Johnson has 12 victories on the PGA Tour, including two major championships, the 2007 Masters and the 2015 Open Championship.
In 2023, Johnson will captain the U.S. Ryder Cup squad against Europe in Rome, Italy.
