Zake Bantwini Biography

Zakes Bantwini, is a South African singer, record producer and businessman. He has worked with fellow musician Black Coffee, with whom he collaborated on the song “Juju”. He is famously known for the song “Clap your Hands” featuring Xolani Sithole from one of his albums “Love, Light, and Music”.

Date of Birth

He was born on May 26, 1980 in KwaMashu, South Africa. He was raised in KwaMashu F-section in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Zakes Bantwini was a student at Shayamoya Junior Primary School. He later attended Nqabakazulu Secondary School. Despite the struggles of being a father as a teenager, he was able to complete his studies.

After graduating from high school, he was able to take classes in Natal Technikon which is now known as the Durban University of Technology where Madida was awarded a national certificate for Light Music, this is also where he established his own record label, known as Mayonie Productions while he was in the final year.

Madida earned a degree from the department of Jazz and Music Performance following his graduation from the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban. He completed a Social Entrepreneurship Program at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria.

Career

On April 2011, his single “Clap Your Hands” was released featuring Xolani Sithole.

In 2013, Madida released studio album The Fake Book and Real Book: My Music Bible. The following year, the album was nominated in the Best Dance Album Category at the 20th SAMA Awards. On June 23, 2017, he released the album Love, Light & Music 2.

In early December 2021, Zakes third studio album “Ghetto King” was released worldwide. The album met positive review from music critics, as it features Khetha, BlaQRhythm, DeeTheGeneral, Drega, Karyendasoul, Mtumzi, Nana Atta, Nomkhosi, Skillz, and Skye Wanda.

Madida has three children from previous relationships and two with his wife Nandi Madida (formerly Nandi Mngoma).
