George Afriyie Hints Of Contesting Kurt Okraku For GFA presidency

One of Ghana’s foremost football administrators, George Afriyie has indicated that he will for the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) presidency.

George Afriyie says he will assess the performance of the current FA president Kurt Okraku at the end of his current mandate before he decides on whether or not to contest.

The former vice president of the FA said that he is aware Kurt Okraku’s first tenure will end on 25 October 2023 and that he will do an assessment to see if he has done well or not, this he says will determine whether he will contest or support him.

He also raised concerns about the Ghana Football Association’s sponsorship deal with betPawa, with his main concern being the $1 million allocated to promotions.

Mr. Afriyie said that if a sponsorship package is agreed on and $1 million is set aside for marketing and promotion by the same brand that requires the promotion, a determination will be made on the FA president’s performance.

George Afriyie contested Kurt Okraku for the FA presidency and lost.
