Former Black Stars coach Avram Grant has in paying tribute, heaped praises on his former player Christian Atsu who unfortunately lost his life as a result of the devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey.
Avram Grant described the late winger as a “lovely person” and one of his favorite players.
The Israeli trainer took the former Chelsea and Newcastle forward to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite the protestations from a section of Ghanaian, where he was adjudged the player of the tournament as the Black Stars placed second.
His show-stopping strike against Guinea also won the Goal of the Tournament.
Christian Atsu’s death was confirmed on Saturday morning by his agent, 12 days after he had been trapped under the rubble of his collapsed apartment building.
Avram Grant told Sky Sports that Atsu was a lovely, lovely person who is always smiling and happy. He added that the Ghana winger always had a positive attitude and worked really hard in training and was one of his favorite players.
