One of Ghana’s most respected sports journalists Karl Tufuor has said that based on pure talent, the late Ghana winger Christian Atsu was ahead of Stephen Appiah, a former Black Stars captain.
Karl Tufuor believes that the former Newcastle United winger is the most gifted Ghanaian player after Abedi Pele and puts him ahead of Chelsea legend Michael Essien.
According to the veteran journalists, if Atsu had succeeded at Chelsea, he would have been alive because there would not be the need for him to move to Turkey where the earthquake that took his life occurred.
He said for those who think Stephen Appiah was the ultimate, no. When it comes to talent, Atsu was way ahead of him. He asked why it didn’t work at Chelsea.
Tufuor added that if you take away Abedi Pele, the most gifted player since Abedi left the scene has been Atsu.
The only challenge, he said is that Atsu didn’t fulfill his full potential.
