Not For Lack Of Quality – Avram Grant Explains Why Christian Atsu Didn’t Succeed At Chelsea

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant has offered his views on why late Black Stars winger Christian Atsu did not make the cut at Stamford Bridge after he was signed with the club from 2013 to 2017.

In the time that the winger was signed with the London-based club, he did not feature in any game for the team but was rather sent on loans on numerous occasions until he was signed by Newcastle United in 2017.

Avram Grant attributes Atsu’s inability to break through at Chelsea to injury challenges.
He said the winger’s issue at Chelsea was a simple one, which was niggling injuries.

He stated that the fact that a club like Chelsea signed Atsu was a testament to the player’s quality because they will not put a player of average ability on their books.
