Former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingston is adamant the Black Stars can win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
Ghana has been unable to win the continental title for close to four decades. The nation last won the African Cup title in 1982.
In recent times, the Black Stars have come close to winning the cup in Angola 2010 where they lost to Egypt, and in Equatorial Guinea-Gabon where they were again losing finalists.
Richard Kingston touching on the country’s trophy draught asked Ghanaians to exercise patience and put their support behind the team.
He said he is a man of faith and knows that the team will qualify for the next AFCON and is also looking forward to seeing Ghana lift the trophy.
The former goalkeeper said he is certain of qualification and that his major focus is on bringing home the AFCON trophy; he revealed it is important for the team to work towards annexing the title.
Ghana will take on Angola in a two-legged encounter in the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The continental football governing body, CAF has postponed the 2023 AFCON tournament to January 2024.
