President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Kwabena Yeboah has paid tribute to the late Black Stars winger Christian Atsu.
The 31-year-old will be laid to rest today in his hometown of Dogobome, Ada in the Greater Accra region of Ghana.
Present at the funeral to pay their last respect to the deceased footballer were the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, family, friends, footballers, and members of the diplomatic community.
Kwabena Yeboah who attended the funeral took some time to praise the deceased for his humility in spite of his success.
He said Atsu never allowed his fame and well to get into his head. Often times when footballers get very famous, they tend to be a bit haughty and they tend to be a bit super zealous. He never ever got to that point. He never forgot his roots.
Atsu last played for the Turkish side, Hatayspor. He also played for Newcastle, Everton, and AFC Bournemouth.
And was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
