Yussif Chibsah, a former captain of the Ghana U-23 team, has said that the Black Meteors’ win over Algeria was “well planned”.
The former player who at one time donned the jersey of Kumasi Asante Kotoko is the last captain of Ghana’s Olympic team to have featured at an Olympic Games.
Chibsah has said that he is hoping that the team will qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris next year. He also took the opportunity to praise the playing body and the technical team for a job well done.
In an interview with Asempa FM, he said the game itself was well-planned and well-managed, adding that what we needed most was the qualification; the players and the technical handlers were able to do that for us though the goals are not many.
He went on to reveal that this has been 20 years since we last qualified for the Olympic Games and he has been readying himself to hand over the captaincy to the next person but no one is coming.
The Black Meteors beat Algeria 1-0 at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon to qualify for 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on a 2-1 aggregate.
