Former Ghana international Derek Boateng has launched a scathing attack on former Black Stars coaches who were expatriates, describing them as clueless.
In a bid to restore Ghana’s lost glory on the continental stage, the football governing body decided to employ foreign coaches as heads of the senior national team.
Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant, Goran Stevanovic, and Milovan Rajevac are among some of the expatriate coaches who have headed the national team in recent years.
The Black Stars were able to reach the finals of the African Cup of Nations in 2010 and 2015 under the guidance of
Under Rajevac and Avram Gran respectively.
Derek Boateng has however blasted the coaches who had stints with the Black Stars. He said all the foreign coaches they had during his playing days in the Black Stars were clueless including Milovan Rajevac because as a matter of fact, they had a good team.
He further posited that during the 2010 World Cup, he, Quincy Owusu Abayie, Sulley Muntari, and other top players were on the bench and that tells you the kind of team they had.
Boateng proudly said members of the squad were playing in top clubs and top teams at the time, so it is not like Milovan Rajevac and other foreign coaches did something extraordinary.
He concluded that they trained as if we are playing a match, every player put in much effort in a bid to get into the starting lineup. There was serious competition in the team looking at the squad, to him, those foreign coaches did nothing.
