Black Stars Considering Friendlies In Ghana After World Cup Qualifiers Postponement

The Ghana Football Association is considering arranging friendlies for the Black Stars during the next international break in June following the postponement of the World Cup qualifiers on the continent.

To keep the team active and begin preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations next year, there are plans to organise at least two games in June for the senior national team.

Within that period most of the players would have been done with their season abroad, leaving them inactive.

There were earlier plans for camping in Europe as part of early preparations.

However, changes to the CAF calendar has massively affected the schedule of the Ghana Football Association.

Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor could use the opportunity to give the new players in the squad another shot at making it to AFCON 2022 in Cameroon.

Having qualified for the tournament for a ninth consecutive time, the FA and government are seeking an amount of $25 million to help fund the team to success.

Ghana has not won the Africa Cup of Nations since 1982.
