Milovan Rajevac In Search Of Top Target Men For Black Stars

Milovan Rajevac’s return to Black Stars top job has been confirmed and work has commenced.

The Serbian is preparing to announce his first squad this week for the doubleheader against Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

And, one thing that should be on the mind of the Serbian is a trusted striker who can bang in the goals.

The previous manager Charles Akonnor paid the ultimate price for not solving the striking problems, with regular attackers failing to live up to expectations.

Akonnor’s before he was sacked supervised a team that scored just one goal in four games.

That means Rajevac has his work cut for him. The main issue that needs fixing is the attack because without goals it’s impossible to win matches.

The Serbian in his first spell was accused of being defensive-minded, but people fail to acknowledge that his team did not lack goals.

Under Rajevac, Ghana saw the best of Asamoah Gyan. The all-time leading top scorer carried the team to the 2010 Afcon final and World Cup quarter-final.

He is no longer considered for selection and that means, Rajevac has to create another monster.

Jordan Ayew has been doing his best to replace Gyan. Kwabena Owusu, Joel Fameyeh, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Kwame Opoku, Caleb Ekuban and Emmanuel Gyasi have all been given chances to prove themselves.

However, it’s up to Rajevac to identify who among the aforementioned players is capable of playing the starring role just like Gyan.
