The Deputy National Communications Director of New Patrioctic Party (NPP) Kamal-Deen Abdullai has fired a few shots at jobless Ghanaian youngsters who are addicted to expensive devices simultaneously.
As he surveyed the current immigration processes across the nation, Kamal Deen Abdullai, wondered what it would be like to describe themselves as unemployed when they are displaying an expensive iPhone on the grounds for recruitment.
“Go and check the applicants for the immigration recruitment. Some are holding an iphone 12 and the latest phone in town but are in a queue looking for an immigration job. The Ghc 10,000 you’re using to buy the phone, that 10,000 can be a startup capital for something else, but that person says I am unemployed,” he said.
Kamal-Deen expressed concern over the “make money quick” mentality of a certain generation of youth.
He encouraged the young to establish their priorities and maintain a positive working attitude, claiming that such traits will help reduce the gap in unemployment.
“Don’t use the starter pack capital to buy an iPhone worth Ghc 12,000 because you want to develop your business. When you are given a loan to start a business, the first thing you’re thinking of is to buy a fresh car out of that loan. How do you pay back? So, it’s about attitude. It is our way of life that won’t help us. We want to appear flamboyant. I think it’s a sad one,” he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo” morning show.
In simple terms, Kamal-Deen Abdullai is a conviction that the main reason for Ghana’s high unemployment is the lack of discipline that certain Ghanaians exhibit when they are able to find jobs. Those who haven’t found employment yet are also influenced by their attitude towards working.
He gave examples of situations where the Ghanaian employee is less interested in the development of his or her work, and slacking off can be an incentive to leave.
