Agent Oliver Arthur has hinted AS Roma Felix Afena-Gyan could decline a first invitation to join the Black Stars in this month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
On Thursday, November 4, 2021, Ghana head coach Milovan selected the ex- EurAfrica FC player to his team of 28 to take on Ethiopia in addition to South Africa.
The 18-year-old has served as a standout pin up player in the Italian Serie A the past two weeks, following his first professional appearance with a come from behind win against Cagliari. He was a second-half substitute and played 33 minutes.
In the last week, he was introduced at the break of the 2-1 loss to AC Milan at the Stadio Olympiaco and the youngster demonstrated his strength.
Afena was able to scythe into tackles and sped up on experienced players and fired a shot in the goal that was taken and tipped over by the Milan goalkeeper.
While ecstatic, Arthur believes his client may not be ready for international football.
Taking to his Twitter handle, he wrote;
“Congratulations @ohenegyanfelix9 @ edmundAddo, two outstanding young men from the @ArthurLegacy family who have earned call ups by @ghanafaofficial for World Cup qualifiers.
“Player development is a partnership that cannot be rushed. Let’s stay focused on the long term win.”
