Throwback Video Of How A South African Referee Denied Ghana Qualification To The 2018 World Cup Pops Up

As the debate over the penalty handed by Ghana at the time of the World Cup qualifier match with South Africa keeps going on, we’ve stumbled upon footage from the time when a South African referee denied Ghana eligibility for in the 2018 World Cup.

During the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, Ghana played Uganda in a match that was conducted by a South African referee with the name Daniel Bennett.

The game was also a deciding one and in order for Ghana to qualify for the tournament, they needed to beat Uganda. In the final moments of the match, a South African referee shocked the world with his decision to rule a clean goal made by Ghanaian player, Daniel Amartey. According to the official and his linemen, the player was offside, but video evidence proved otherwise.

Just immediately after the match, the Ghana Football Association protested to FIFA, but the protest did not result in any positive results.

It could be a case of the law of karma, since South Africans are protesting to FIFA seeking a second round of play with Ghana following a similar controversial decision was taken against the Bafana Bafana.
