AFCON 2021: Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac Defends Late Substitutions In Morocco Defeat

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has defended his late substations in the Black Stars African cup of Nations 2021 opening game against Morocco.

Ghanaians blamed the Serbian trainer for the Black Stars 1-0 lost to the Atlas Lions for his late substitution, as he waited until the Moroccans had taken the lead through attacker Sofiane Boufal before making substitutions

Explaining why it took him so long to make substitutions, Milovan said; “Everything was really tight, and I felt the team was functioning well, so there was no need to make unnecessary substitutions, up till the moment we conceded, we were in full control of the match

Before the game, many underrated the Black Stars, as they see them as underdogs. Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac and captain Andre Ayew assured to prove doubters wrong, however they failed to do so.

Ghana now has two games to play, Gabon, Friday, January 14, and Comoros, Tuesday, January 18, in the group stage at 7PM in the two games.

The Black Stars are seeking to end their 40 years AFCON drought by winning their 5th trophy, after winning their last trophy in 1982 in Libya.

Ghana has been to finals on three times after their last trophy, losing to the Ivory Coast on penalties in 1992 and 2015 and were beaten 1-0 by Egypt in Angola 2010.
