Victor Henry Elford was an English sports car racing, rallying and Formula One driver.
He took part in thirteen World Championship F1 Grands Prix, starting on July 7, 1968. He earned a total of 8 points for championships.
The nickname of “Quick Vic” by his peers, Elford was mostly a well-known racer in sports cars and an accomplished rally driver, who was often associated with Porsche.
Although he raced five times with Porsche, Elford has also raced for Ford, Triumph, Lancia, Alfa-Romeo, Ferrari, Chaparral, Shadow, Cooper, Lola, Chevron, as well as Subaru. Elford also raced McLaren in F1 and CanAm, Chevrolet in TransAm.
Internationally, Elford raced in CanAm as well as at the Daytona 500 of NASCAR.
On the 25th of January 2015, Elford was awarded his 2015 Phil Hill Award from Road Racing Drivers Club. The award was presented by the club’s President, Bobby Rahal.
After retiring, Elford lived in South Florida in the United States.
