Serena Williams Siblings: Meet Venus Williams, Yetunde Price, Richard Williams III, Lyndrea Price, Isha Price, And Ronner Williams.
Serena Jameka Williams is the American professional tennis player who was born on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, United States.
Williams has been ranked singles world No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association for 319 weeks, including a joint-record 186 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times.
She has been awarded the record-breaking 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the highest number of titles won by any tennis player during the Open Era, and the second-highest number of titles in all time (behind Margaret Court’s 24 titles).
She took the first title of her career in singles in her first major singles title at the 1999 US Open.
From 2002’s French Open to the 2003 Australian Open, she was dominating and won the four major singles titles (each time beating Venus at the end of each) to complete a non-calendar year Grand Slam and the career Grand Slam, known as the “Serena Slam”.
The following years saw her take home two more majors in singles, however, she suffered from injuries and declining form.
Williams in 2007 slowly returned to her former form despite a string of injuries, and was able to regain the world’s number one spot in the singles ranking.
In 2012, following the Wimbledon Championships, Williams returned to the top of the list, winning Olympic medals and became the very first player in tennis to earn the Career Golden Slam in both doubles and singles.
In the 2017 Australian Open, she won her 23rd major singles title, exceeding Steffi Graf’s Open Era record. Then, she stopped playing tennis due to her pregnancy and has played in 4 major championships in the time since returning.
Williams has also taken home 14 women’s doubles major titles, which she has won together with her sister Venus, and the pair are undefeated at Grand Slam doubles finals.
This also includes a non-calendar year Grand Slam between the 2009 Wimbledon Championships and the 2010 French Open, which granted Williams and Venus the world’s No. 1 ranking.
She has earned the coveted four Olympic gold medals and three in women’s doubles, which is an all-time record that she shares along with her sister. She has also won two major mixed-doubles titles, both in 1998.
Williams is widely considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
