Dame Deborah James’ Mother Heather Pays Tribute After Podcaster Dies Aged 40

Following the passing of her 40-year-old adored daughter, Dame Deborah James’ mother has paid homage to her — says she’s heart broken.

Dame Deborah, who was known for hosting the BBC podcast You, Me & The Big C, passed away on Tuesday after a five-year battle with bowel cancer, according to a joint statement from her family.

Dame Deborah raised close to £7 million through her Bowelbabe Fund, with the proceeds going to the various cancer charities that supported her over the years, including the Royal Marsden Hospital in London since she stopped receiving cancer treatment and started receiving hospice care at her parents’ home in Surrey.

Following the announcement of her passing, Dame Deborah’s mother Heather, also known as Bowelgran on Instagram, posted pictures of her late daughter posing and dancing in front of a sunset in her Instagram stories and captioned them, “My heart is broken.”

The podcaster’s family in a joint statement revealed that she had been an inspiration to them all.

“Deborah, who many of you will know as Bowelbabe, was an inspiration and we are incredibly proud of her and her work and commitment to charitable campaigning, fundraising and her endless efforts to raise awareness of cancer that touched so many lives”
