British-born Canadian novelist Peter Robinson was born on 17 March 1950 in Armley, West Riding of Yorkshire, England.
He was known for his crime novel DCI Alan Banks. Robinson earned a degree in English Literature from the University of Leeds.
He has a Master of Arts in English and Creative writing from the University of Windsor in Canada and a Ph.D. in English from York University in Toronto.
His father Clifford Robinson was a photographer while his mother Miriam Jarvis was a homemaker.
He emigrated to Canada to further his studies.
Robinson was presented the Grand Master Award from the Crime Writers of Canada in 2020.
He taught crime writing at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies.
Robinson died on 4 October 2022 after a short illness.
