Ex-Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan Reveals Lowest Moment In His Career

The former Black Stars captain has revealed the lowest moment in his career as the open goal miss he had against Namibia in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In the said game against Namibia, the late Ghana striker Junior Agogo scored the lone goal to hand Ghana all three points.
Ghana had earlier won their opening group match with a late goal against Guinea and was facing Namibia in their second game of the tournament.

Gyan who is Ghana’s all-top leading scorer, could not capitalize on a fumble by the Namibian goalkeeper who left him with an open goal to shoot into; he shot wide.

A day after the Namibia game, there were reports of threats by Gyan and his older brother Baffour leaving camp due to the harsh criticism the former had received for missing a glaring chance.

Asamoah Gyan, however, said the experience toughened him instead of breaking him down because he had up to that point in his life been treated with kits gloves.

He is currently a free agent after leaving Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities two seasons ago.
