Ex-Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah Recounts Clashing With Dr. Kofi Amoah Over $35,000 Salary

James Kwesi Appiah,former Black Stars head coach, has disclosed the nature of the working relationship he had with the chairman of the ad-hoc Normalisation Committee (NC), Dr. Kofi Amoah.

During coach Kwasi Appiah’s second stint as the Black Stars head coach, he had the opportunity to work with Dr. Kofi Amoah who was practically the head of Ghana football at the time.

Coach Kwasi Appiah disclosed in an interview with Joy News that the then-chairman of the NC had threatened to sack him after a disagreement over his $35,000.00 salary.

He said that Dr. Amoah threatened to sack him but he was bold to tell him to his face that he was not afraid of being sacked and that he had heard threats of a sack several times over and could not be shaken by new ones.

Kwasi Appiah said after a conversation over his contract, Dr. Amoah thought he did not deserve the sum being paid to him and offered to reduce it but he stood his ground and told him any reduction in his salary would mean him leaving the job.

The coach who has had two stints with the national team is vying for a third after he applied for the vacant Black Stars job.
