Before his move to the Phobians, the striker had registered ten goals in the league already. He revealed that Accra Hearts of Oak presented a better offer compared to what the other interested clubs did.
Eric Gawu disclosed that there was a lot of pressure put on his father to sway him to play for Hearts of Oak. So, in the end, his father convinced him to play for the Phobians.
He stressed that his father’s role in his move to Hearts of Oak was vital.
Another factor, according to the former striker, that led him to move to Hearts of Oak was the realization that he had stayed in Kumasi for long and needed a change in environment. He said Alhaji Grunsah also advised him to move to Hearts of Oak because the offer they made was good.
He spent four seasons with the Phobians before getting a transfer to H.Askelon of Israel.
