No Ghanaian Club Can Win CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup Now – Dan Owusu

Ghanaian football legend Dan Owusu has expressed his candid view that Ghanaian clubs are presently far from being rated among the elite clubs on the continent.

With the quality of domestic football being called into question by many followers of the game, its resultant effect on the continental level is leaving nothing to write home about either.

The year 2002 was the last time Ghanaian clubs dominated African football at the continental level; Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko both Ghanaian sides competed in the finals of the CAF Confederations Cup which Hearts of Oak won.

Dan Owusu a three-time Ghana Premier League top goal scorer, in an interview with Bryt FM, expressed his disappointment with the performances of Ghanaian teams in Africa adding that it will be an arduous task for any of them to win a continental trophy anytime soon.

He said the standard of the Ghanaian league has fallen, with clubs suffering heavy defeats in Africa.
