Black Galaxies coach Annor Walker has expressed his gratitude to God for what he describes as “whatever has happened” after his team was eliminated from the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
In their quarterfinal match against Niger on Saturday at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, the Black Galaxies lost by 2 unanswered goals.
Defender Konadu Yiadom scored an own in the 11th minute of the encounter before Souman Hainokye Boubacar struck with a sublime finish to take Niger to the next phase of the competition.
In his post-match, the experienced coach struggled to express his thoughts in the wake of his team’s abysmal performance during the game.
Coach Annor Walker said that he was short of words and did not know what to say. He said it was a very big blow to have lost the match but concluded that everything God does is good.
The Black Galaxies made it to the quarterfinals of the 2022 CHAN after losing to debutant Madagascar and defeating Sudan in the second group game. All three teams in Group C were awarded three automatic points after Morocco withdrew from the tournament following political tensions with hosts Algeria.
Ghana’s team is expected to be back home later today.
Meanwhile, Niger will play host nation Algeria in the semifinals on Tuesday, January 31 at 16:00 GMT.
