Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku has commended the team spirit of the squad after Ghana picked a narrow 1-0 win over Angola in the third round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Alexander Djiku who plies his trade with Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 started the game but had to be hulled off due to a knock he got during the course of the match. He was replaced by Joseph Aidoo in the 87th minute due to discomfort.
The center-back took to his official Twitter page, after the game, to express his delight and gratitude to supporters for their impressive turnout for the match.
He wrote, “Strong team spirit. 3 pts. Focus on the next one. We thank all Ghanaians for the support and love.”
Antoine Semenyo who plays for Bournemouth in the English Championship scored a late winner to hand the Black Stars all three points at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday in a hard-fought match.
This is the seventh time the two sides have faced each other; Ghana has not lost any of those games.
After today’s game, Ghana tops Group E with seven points from three games.
The Black Stars will travel to Luanda to play the reverse fixture on Monday, March 27.
