Ariarne Elizabeth Titmus was born on 7 September 2000 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. He is an Australian competitive swimmer. She won the women’s 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, making her the reigning Olympics champion in both events.
At the International Swimming League in 2019 and 2020, she represented Cali Condors.
Titmus had to relocate to Queensland from Tasmania in order to have access to better swimming facilities.
She is currently being coached by South Africa- born Dean Boxall and is a member of the St Peters Western swimming club which is based in Brisbane.
Titmus finished in 17th place when she competed in the women’s 200-meter freestyle event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships.
At the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships, she won gold in the women’s short course 400-metre freestyle competition.
Titmus was adjudged Swimmer of the Year: 2019 by Swimming Australia.
