Albert Aroldis Chapman de la Cruz is an American professional baseball relief pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. He was born in Cuba on February 28, 1988. He has previously played in the Cuban National Series for Holguin as well as MLB games for the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs.
Chapman is known as the “Cuban Missile” or the “Cuban Flame Thrower”. He bats and throws with his left hand. Chapman pitched for Holguin both locally and abroad for the baseball team of Cuba. He left Cuba in 2009 and inked a deal with the Reds the following year.
That year, Chapman made his MLB debut. He was nominated to four consecutive All-Star teams, won the MLB Delivery Man of the Month Award as the best bullpen pitcher for July 2012.

When Chapman left Cuba, he left Raidelmis Mendosa Santiestelas, and Ashanty Brianna he was just a year old at the time. He reunited with them after he helped them transfer to the United States. His son, Atticus Gabriel Chapman, was born in Cincinnati in June of 2014.
He had his third daughter Angelina with his new girlfriend, Christina.
