Big Shocks Expected As Ghana Coach Milovan Likely To Name AFCON Squad Today

Milovan Rajevac, Ghana coach, is expected to name his provisional Africa Cup of Nations team today. There are a few top names that will be dropped from the squad.

The Serbian is focused on the players that he will lead in the country’s search for the African crown after a 40-year wait.

As he tries to identify players capable of delivering the title, it is highly probable that there will be a few high-profile players cut.

Although it is not clear which players will be cut, the Serbian is well-known for making tough calls regarding player call-ups.

He is expected to name several new and young faces for his provisional team ahead of the team’s camping trip in Doha, Qatar later in this month.

The Black Stars, four-time African champions, are looking to end the 40-year-old wait for the Africa Cup of Nations trophy. They were last awarded the Tournament in Libya in 1982.

The team will be opening camp in Doha (Qatar) on December 22, 2021, for two weeks to prepare themselves for the competition, which begins on January 9, 2022.

Ghana, which is paired with Gabon, Morocco, and Comoros in Group C, will open their campaign against the Atlas Lions of Morocco. They will then face the Panthers of Gabon on January 10, before taking on the Coelacanths of Comoros and the Panthers of Gabon on January 14 and 18 respectively.
