The current contingent of the Ghana senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, will miss the funeral and burial ceremony of their late colleague, Christian Atsu Twasam, over the weekend.
Atsu will be buried on Friday, 17 March.
The 25-man squad will arrive in the country for their clash with Angola after their former colleague has been buried in his hometown of Dogobome,
Abdul Haye Yartey, the owner of Cheetah FC and Atsu’s local manager, has revealed that the Black Stars were not included in the schedule for the funerals.
He said that the funeral preparations are been taken care of by the bereaved family, the office of the Chief of Staff, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the GFA.
Christian Atsu died tragically under the rubble of his apartment building when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Turkey and Syria.
He represented Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
