Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu was taken to the hospital after falling ill with a mysterious illness during his team’s Ghana Premier League game against Elmina Sharks on Wednesday.
He was rushed to the Elmina Hospital at the half-time during the match in Elmina, which left the Phobians contemplating the fate of their head coach.
Boadu was not on the bench until the second half, and it was confirmed that the coach had been taken to hospital to receive medical attention.
The assistant coach Hamza Obeng is in charge and is directing the team from the touchline while the Phobians look to secure their first win of the season.
It’s not clear what caused the illness, and Boadu appeared to have no indication of illness prior to the beginning of the game in the Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.
Hearts’ title defense has got off to a shaky beginning, and they are currently in the bottom of the table despite playing three excellent games.
